Women in Cinema Series: Abiola Abrams

Women in Cinema Series
Featuring the film works of

Abiola Abrams

Author, Independent Filmmaker, and

popular host of BET Jazz “THE BEST SHORTS”

Using pop culture entertainment to create uncommon inspiration: culturally, politically, emotionally and sexually in film, Abrams' work ranges from edgy 'chick flicks' to socially conscious docs - investigate the themes of gender, race and empowerment. Her work has screened and been performed in theaters, museums, galleries and festivals in London, West Africa, Germany, South America, the West Indies and in the US including Pan African Film Festival, CinWomen, and Berlin Int'l Film Festival.

Currently Ms. Abrams is touring her debut novel "DARE" (Simon & Schuster) an intelligent, fun and sexy story about finding true love and self-esteem in the crazy world of entertainment.

Life as a Lemon Productions is committed to creating opportunities for filmmakers to showcase work that is innovative and creative in nature while finding new and interesting ways to bring about diversity in film making. “Women in Cinema” achieves this by focusing on films that explore the independent nature of filmmaking while giving voice to female talent across the world. We hope you'll join us on February 16, 2008 to support this cause!
